WGC Cadillac Championship Tips: Webb Simpson

Shot a pair of 66s last year and makes birdies for fun. Should contend if lowering the error count.

In our trends article we discussed how making birdies at Doral was critical for any chance of victory and there aren’t many people who make more birdies than Webb Simpson.

In 2011, he ranked third for birdie average on the PGA Tour and last season he went one better and ranked second!

At the WGC Cadillac Championship last year, we were treated to the best and worst of Webb Simpson in just four days. A pair of 66s was bookended by a 75 and 77. He eventually finished T35, but a top-ten was there for the taking with just a respectable round on Sunday.

With four top-25 finishes in six events so far this year, the US Open Champion has looked in good form. He made the quarter-finals in the WGC Match Play last month and finished T6 on his last stroke play start in the Northern Trust Open.

TPC Blue Monster looks a good fit for the world number 17 and at 40/1 (Stan James) he is a solid each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
