Holmes Is Where The Heart Is
JB Holmes couldn’t make all after an opening 62 last year but it showed his potential on this course.
If JB Holmes were a horse, you’d say he hit the front too soon and idled when runner-up at last year’s Cadillac Championship.
The big hitting American was quick out of the gates with a blistering 62 but the pressure of leading for four days got to him and he lost by a stroke, playing his final 54 holes in +2.
There were still plenty of positives to take from the defeat. Anyone who can shoot 10-under at TPC Blue Monster is a seriously good player and his length was an advantage all week.
In three visits to Doral, Holmes has finished T40-T18-2 and he can scarcely have arrived in better form. In his last five starts he has finished T24-T6-T6-T11-T11 and is currently ranked sixth in strokes gained tee-to-green.
All Holmes needs is a reasonable week on the greens and to stay out of the water. He is capable of both and is a cracking each-way bet at 30/1 (Bet365).
