Tshwane Open Tips: Paul Dunne

Paul Dunne remains on our list after his T23 finish at the Joburg Open and by flying under the radar he’s virtually the same price in Pretoria.

The one negative is that he’s not got any course form this week but he’s got plenty of ability and will only get better, which is a marked difference to many in the field.

Never the straightest of drivers, Dunne was hampered in Joburg by playing out the wet rough and not being able to ‘pick, clean & place’ because he was never in the fairway.  That should be less of an issue this week, where fairways aren’t a necessity, last year’s top-5 hit fewer than 58% of them.

Having made 6/7 cuts this season and bagged four top-30 finishes, Dunne’s consistency should eventually yield a good finish. Back him each-way at 50/1 (Coral) and get 7 places at 1/5 odds.
