St. Jude Classic Golf Tips: Zach Johnson
Record of T5-T12 at the tournament. Arrives on a streak of five consecutive sub 70 rounds.
Looking at the list of past winners TPC Southwind heavily favours accuracy over length off the tee and that type of setup suits Zach Johnson.
Ranking only 175th on tour for distance, it is driving accuracy (ranked 7th) that keeps him competitive. Indeed, he is one of the more prolific winners on tour with six wins in the last four years. Although the former Masters champion plays TPC Southwind infrequently, it should not be a handicap. The two times he has competed at the St. Jude Classic he has finished: T5-T12.
Zach Johnson arrives in Memphis with his game in rude health. In his last three tournaments he has finished: T6-T12-4. An excellent closing 65 at Colonial was his fifth consecutive round in the 60s and more of the same should see him go very close again. At 18/1 he is a good each way bet with bookmakers paying ¼ odds for a top five finish.
