St. Jude Classic Golf Tips: David Toms
Two-time winner of the tournament, he is currently in the form of his life.
There aren’t many hotter players on tour than David Toms right now. After a playoff defeat at The Players he bounced back with a brilliant win at Colonial. Apart from a sticky third round 74, for the rest of the tournament he played the most exceptional golf I have seen all year.
The statistics back up his results. On tour he is 3rd in driving accuracy, 2nd in GIRs, 6th in strokes gained putting and 1st in all-around ranking.
If that wasn’t enough his record at TPC Southwind is also excellent. In 18 events he has 2 wins and a further 5 top ten finishes. Similar to TPC Sawgrass, the course demands accuracy and good putting, the strongest attributes of David Toms’ game. Although second favourite at 12/1 he is still a solid win only proposition.
