Nedbank Golf Challenge Tips: Lucas Bjerregaard

Bookended his Turkish Open with rounds of 67 but again ranked highly tee-to-green just as he did in Portugal.

The Nedbank Challenge has been reconstructed and now forms part of the European Tour Final Series. The purse on offer has attracted a stronger field than Turkey but I’m sticking with the same players I backed in Belek.

Lucas Bjerregaard offered us some hope with an opening 67 at Carya and closed his tournament with the same score to suggest we weren’t too far off the mark.

The big-hitting Dane enjoyed another strong ball-striking week, ranking inside the top-20 for driving distance, accuracy and GIRs just as he did in Portugal.

This week’s Gary Player course measures an ominous 7,831-yards an even at altitude this isn’t the type of course you can fiddle your way round. Fortunately, Bjerregaard is ranked sixth in driving distance on tour and recent results show he’s finding more fairways then he did at the start of the year. This will be his debut in Sun City but he’s better than a 150/1 (Paddy Power) chance, with 6 places at 1/5 odds.
