Mexico Championship Tips: Ollie Schniederjans

Former amateur world number one who finished T12 at the Open Championship. Lost in a playoff on last start in Colombia.

With all the hype surrounding the recently turned professional Bryson DeChambeau the media has forgotten about Ollie Schniederjans but they might get a sharp reminder this weekend.

Less than a year ago Schniederjans was the name on everybody’s lips, he was the number one amateur in world golf for an impressive 41 weeks and finished T12 at the Open Championship.

He turned professional immediately after St. Andrews but unfortunately couldn’t earn enough money to secure his card despite finishing T22 at the Canadian Open and T15 and the Quicken Loans National.

That meant he was forced to drop down to the Web.com tour but that might prove a good thing for his golfing development. After missing his first two cuts he finished T35 at the Brasil Champions and then went on to lose in a play-off at the Servientrega Championship in Colombia.

Already one of the biggest hitters on tour and a birdie machine he won’t be fazed by the long El Bosque Golf Club and can make up for his near miss by winning at 40/1 (Sportingbet).
