China Open Tips: Ricardo Gouveia

China Open Tips: Ricardo Gouveia

Missed the cut last week but butchered solid rounds with two late triple bogeys. Finished T12-T3 at the Foshan Open in China.

Ricardo Gouveia was another of our tips to miss the cut last week at the Shenzhen International but he wasn’t far away from making an impact.

The 24-year-old was going along nicely on Thursday until he made a triple bogey on the sixth (his 15th hole of the day). Unfortunately history repeated itself when on Friday another good round was ruined by a triple bogey, this time on the 17th hole. But for those calamities he would have been 2-under and comfortably made the cut.

You could apply the ‘what if’ scenario to any golfer but in Gouveia we have a young talent who is on the verge of a big win. Last season he was the outstanding player on the Challenge Tour, winning the money list and breaking into the top-100 in the world.

He has played well in China before finishing T12-T3 at the Foshan Open. We can forgive a missed cut and get back on-board at 125/1 (Paddy Power).
