Chile Classic Tips: Franklin Corpening

Finished T22 last year, carding 22 birdies and an eagle. A big danger if keeping the dropped shots at bay.

To win the Chile Classic you need to finish around 20-under and claim a bucket load of birdies.

Franklin Corpening is certainly capable of fulfilling the second part of the equation. The 29-year-old finished T22 last year, firing 22 birdies and an eagle. The problem is he throws in too many bogeys.

It was a similar story at the Colombia Championship, five bogeys and two doubles in the first two days derailed his challenge before it got started. To his credit he fought back and eventually finished T29, giving us a glimpse of his potential.

People might remember Corpening from his exploits at Colonial last year. The young rookie equalled the best round of the week with a 62 on Sunday, helping him to a T14 finish on the PGA Tour.

If he can keep the dropped shots at bay Corpening could go well at a big price. Back him each-way at 90/1 (Bet365) and get ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
