Canadian Open Golf Tips: Briny Baird

it's Not So Baird

Three top 25s in his last six visits to Canada. He finished with a 64 at the John Deere a fortnight ago.

If there is one place Briny Baird is going to break his duck then it is in Canada. The 39-yeard old from Miami Beach has finished runner-up four times on tour but his most consistent results have come in the Canadian Open. His last six finishes in the tournament have been: T30-T16-T11-T27-MC-T14, with that T14 coming at Shaughnessy.

Not a long hitter, Baird’s game is based around accuracy. He ranks 12th on tour for driving accuracy and 59th for GIRs. If these parts of his game continue to work well, he shouldn’t struggle on the tight tree lined fairways.

Despite a missed cut at the Viking Classic, Baird arrives in Vancouver on good form. He was only two shots below the line last week and before that finished T9 at the John Deere Classic. Weekend rounds of 68-64 propelling him up the leaderboard.

If he can keep the good vibes going then the 200/1 with Betfred could look very big come Sunday. Back him each way for ¼ odds for a top five finish.
