Canadian Open Golf Tips: Arjun Atwal

Arjun Atwal already a winner on tour

Finished 10th at the course in 2005 and thrives on a tough test of golf.

A winner on tour in 2010, Arjun Atwal could surprise a few people in Canada this year. At first glance the world 177 doesn’t look like an obvious contender but Shaughnessy Golf Club produces the type of test he thrives on.

Two of Atwal’s best performances this year have come at Colonial and the Byron Nelson. Four round totals of -4 and +1 don’t sound impressive but they were enough for a T16 and T8 finish. The results prove he relishes a stern test.

In interviews, Atwal has always spoken about his patience for the game.  At a course where you need to plot your way around, his focus is a great asset.

The last time the tournament was held at Shaughnessy, he finished tenth on level par. It is a course he likes and arriving on the back of a T18 at the John Deere Classic he could go well. Back him each way at ¼ odds for a top five finish.
