Byron Nelson Golf Tips: Jason Day

Jason Day

Defending champion who is at the top of his game right now.

The obvious place to start is with defending champion Jason Day. His maiden victory was achieved on his first visit to TPC Four Seasons and he hasn’t looked back since.

A runner up spot at the Masters showed this player is ready for the big time. With five top ten finishes in eleven events, Day has been hovering around the winner’s enclosure all season and is ready to make that step.

A long hitter, the Australian ranks 17th in driving distance but there is more to his game. He ranks 25th in strokes gained through putting and 6th in sand saves; showing he has the all round game to be capable of winning any tournament. Indeed his is 4th on the PGA Tour’s ‘all round’ ranking.

Although course form doesn’t count for much at the Byron Nelson, the fact he is a previous winner must help. At 18/1 he is a solid each way play with a top five finish paying 1/4 odds.
