Byron Nelson Golf Tips: Angel Cabrera

Angel Cabrera

The big hitter should enjoy TPC Four Seasons; its layout is perfect for his game.

The mercurial Angel Cabrera is a difficult beast to predict. A two time winner on the PGA Tour, both happened to be in majors. He tends to save his best for the big events but 21 top ten finishes on tour suggests he also performs away from the limelight.

This season has again been a mixed bag. Two top ten finishes have been tempered by five missed cuts; when you back the Argentinean don’t be surprised if he doesn’t make the weekend. At 80/1 however, he is worth the risk. If there is any course he will thrive at - it is the TPC Four Seasons.

It is surprising this is his first time at the Byron Nelson as his big hitting gives him a real advantage at the course. As expected, he is a player who gobbles up the par 5s but his record on the short holes is also excellent. Ranking 21st in par 3 birdies or better should stand him in good stead on a course with four short holes. Jason Day was victorious on his debut last year and Cabrera can follow in his footsteps at 80/1.

*Angel Cabrera has withdrawn from the Byron Nelson and is deemed a non-runner. Stakes are returned.
