Spanish Grand Prix Tips: Sebastian Vettel

Dominated in Bahrain and threw in an unnecessary fastest lap to prove there is more to come.

It has been three weeks since the Bahrain GP but I’ve not forgotten Sebastian Vettel’s dominant display. Even if Fernando Alonso had enjoyed a trouble free race I doubt he would have got anywhere near the winner.

Looking at the average lap times in each stint, the reigning world champion was well clear of his rivals. He was only outpaced in the final 15 laps of the race, with victory secured.

However, in classic Vettel style, he made sure he won with a bold statement. On lap 55 he set the fastest lap of the race, even though he should have been conserving his tyres he couldn’t resist throwing down the gauntlet.

I have no doubt Vettel was driving within himself in Bahrain, there is more pace to come from the Red Bull and that is an ominous sign for his rivals. Having won two grand prix already this season, he is a strong bet at 9/4 (William Hill) to win a third in Barcelona.
