Spanish GP Tip: Sebastian Vettel Hat-trick

Back to his best, the double World Champion can make it a clean sweep in Catalunya, with pole, win and fastest lap.

It had been a quiet start to the season for Red Bull and Sebastian Vettel until both found their form in Bahrain. You don’t become a double-World Champion at the age of 24 without being a special talent. With the car looking quick again now is the time to pile on the Vettel steam-train.

With 15 pole positions last season, the young German is a master of the one lap shoot-out. This is a big advantage at the Circuit de Catalunya; 10 out of the last 11 pole sitters have gone on to win the Spanish GP.

Sebastian Vettel is a best price 11/4 (Betfred) for pole but if we expect him to go on and win the race, as the stats suggest, then it is worth combining the two. To really increase our odds we can back Vettel for the hat-trick of pole/win/fastest lap at 20/1 with Coral.

There might not be any points for the fastest lap but Vettel is the sort of driver who likes collecting these small victories. Last season he completed this hat-trick twice, at Valencia and in India. Having been under the cosh for the early part of the season, the championship leader will be determined to reassert his authority in Spain.
