Hungary Grand Prix Tip: Mark Webber

Has started on pole in the last two races and shouldn’t be the price he is.

The feeling in the paddock is that Red Bull’s rivals have closed the gap in terms of performance. That might be true but they haven’t surpassed them. From a betting perspective it is the Red Bulls where I always start.

News that has seemingly passed everyone by is that the person really closing the gap on Sebastian Vettel is his teammate. Mark Webber is the German’s closest challenger in the championship. It seems the Australian has taken time to adapt to the tyre changes this season, but in the last four Grand Prix he has been on top of his game.

When it comes to qualifying, it is still a Red Bull lock out on pole. From the ten races this season, Vettel has 7 pole positions to Webber’s 3 but the tide has been turning. In the last six races they have shared three pole positions each yet the gap between them in the betting hasn’t shrunk.

Vettel heads the market at 10/11 with Webber at 4/1 and the disparity is too big. Having sat first on the grid in the last two races the Australian should not be those odds.
