Canadian Grand Prix Betting

Sebastian Vettel has dominated so far this season, but the pack are closing in. This might be his toughest assignment yet.

This weekend the F1 circus moves to Canada. The race takes place on a man-made island in Montreal, home to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. A high-speed, low down-force track, it is one of the most enjoyable races on the calendar.

In the betting Sebastian Vettel heads the market. The championship leader is 5/6 to sit on pole and 6/4 to win the race. Looking at the odds you might think the bookmakers are being slightly generous. However, there is an argument to say that the Red Bulls are less effective on this type of track.

If you take results from Canada and combine them with Monza, a similar high-speed low down-force track, they make interesting reading.

Montreal & Monza last three races combined.

Red Bull: 0 poles; 0 wins; 1 podium
McLaren: 4 poles; 2 wins; 3 podiums
Ferrari: 1 pole; 1 win; 3 podiums

Historically these are not good tracks for Red Bull. Each year brings a new car with a new design but if history repeats itself, Sebastian Vettel may have to yield his position on top of the podium.
