Button: Looking to get off to a flyer

Last year's top McLaren. And that may now be the best car.

The new Formula One season has got off to the most dramatic start imaginable in Melbourne with McLaren claiming the front row for itself while Red Bull languish down in fifth and sixth.

After securing pole position, Lewis Hamilton has quickly become the race favourite at a best price of 11/10 with BetFred. But only a tenth of a second behind his team-mate in qualifying, Jenson Button still looks like the value option at a best price of 11/4 with WilliamHill.

Button finished 2011 33 points ahead of Hamilton despite the younger driver being generally superior in qualifying. The former Brawn world champion his strategically unequalled and that can make all the difference on race days. After a turbulent time throughout last year, Hamilton is also the man with it all to prove in 2012 - he is under greater pressure.

All things considered Button looks like the smarter pick, at least for the time-being, at far superior odds.
