9th Jun 2014 | World Cup

Group F Betting Preview

A group which contains two teams who could go far. Will Leo Messi shine in a World Cup on his own continent or will Edin Dzeko upstage him?

The world awaits with baited breathe to see if this is the moment Lionel Messi cements his place as an all-time great. At 26-years-old, the Barcelona star is at his peak and it’s a best price 16/1 (WilliamHill) that he wins the Golden Boot and Argentina lift the World Cup.

But if the hotly fancied South Americans don’t start at a canter then Bosnia are capable of catching them cold when the sides clash on Sunday. Safet Susic’s side are 14/5 (Ladbrokes) to reach at least the quarter-finals and that looks like a strong bet. The Dragons completed their warm-up with a 1-0 win in Mexico.

It’s hard to see how the other two teams will compete in Group F but Iran’s compact defence makes them a good bet for 3rd place at 12/5 (PaddyPower) with Nigeria even more tempting at 3/1 (Betfred) to finish bottom.
