Wolves v Liverpool: Premier League Odds

Wolves look like a good value bet to continue Liverpool's current woeful run of form when the Premiership resumes on Saturday afternoon.

The feel-good factor that Kenny Dalglish has brought back to Anfield could fade a little more if lowly Wolves complete a famous double over Liverpool with a home win on Saturday afternoon. Mick McCarthy’s men look like a great value bet at 12/5 with VictorChandler to beat the struggling Reds.

Let’s look at the statistics. Liverpool have won just one game away from home in the Premiership all season. Wolves, in contrast, have taken maximum points from five out of eleven matches at Molineux which has rewarded them with more points (17) at home than any other team in the bottom six.

Furthermore, Wolves are a team on better form. In midweek they put five past Doncaster in the Cup, that followed on from a heroic fightback and narrow 4-3 defeat away to Man City last weekend. Before that there was a famous victory over Chelsea and it’s still only 3 weeks or so since that notable win at Anfield.

The odds on a Liverpool triumph are actually shortening - an away win is priced at just 11/10 with Sportingbet. The market appears to be driven by the belief of many Reds’ fans that things simply have to turn round for their club soon. This may not just be wishful thinking but I can’t help thinking there may be at least one more gruesome result to contemplate before rock bottom is reached.

A winning run seems most likely to be inspired by talismen like Gerrard and Carragher, both of whom will miss out tomorrow. Upcoming Anfield encounters with Fulham and Stoke may be better chances to turn the tide. At the very least their captain will be back from suspension by then. But as for tomorrow get your money on Wolves.
