Valencia v Swansea Tip

The Welsh club make their Europa League bow in a famous Spanish stadium this evening.

Swansea can travel to the Mestalla with genuine hope on Thursday evening as they begin their Europa League adventure on the big stage.

Valencia are not in a good place at the moment after suffering three consecutive defeats in La Liga; Los Che have conceded three goals apiece to Espanyol, Barcelona and most recently Real Betis.

This form appears to undermine best odds of 4/5 (WilliamHill) on the home win but I do expect the Spaniards to just about get the job done in the end. Valencia are 4/1 (Skybet) to take the three points after being level at half-time and that looks very conceivable.

Swansea will arrive with the confidence of a team that fought back well against Liverpool on Monday night while Miroslav Djukic’s boys could be negatively affected by nerves and expectations from the home crowd early on.

However, the gulf between the sides in terms of European experience is likely to tell in the end and that’s what makes the half-time/full-time bet appealing here.
