Tottenham v Arsenal

Redknapps wants more derby joy

Home advantage, better players and better form. Everything favours Spurs.

By all criteria, other than reputation and history, Spurs should be overwhelming favourites for this North London derby. Harry Redknapp’s side have finally gained the upper hand in this fixture after years in the doldrums. Tottenham are unbeaten in the last three league clashes, winning twice, including a memorable 3-2 win at the Emirates last season, having trailed 2-0. The fact is, the Gunners actually look more vulnerable now than heading into any of those recent encounters. The home win at a best price of 6/5 with Boylesports looks good value.

The other factor to bare in mind has to be Emmanuel Adebayor. Arsenal fans must be dreading the sight of their former idol pulling on a white shirt after he scored eight times in nine derby matches for them. The Togolese international has made a flying start with his new club having scored on debut before adding another in his first start at White Hart Lane - a 4-0 drubbing of Liverpool.

Arsenal endured their infamous 8-2 massacre at Old Trafford not so long ago and things are yet to really improve. A run of seven league games without a win away from home is their worst sequence for nearly 20 years. Statistics aside, the greatest problem Arsene Wenger faces is, quite simply, Tottenham now have a superior squad of players to call upon.

If the visitors have another one of their disastrous defensive performances then Sunday could prove to be humiliating for the Gunners. Tottenham have got off to flying starts in each of their last two league games, scoring inside the first seven minutes both times. With that in mind, I see no reason not to take the bet on Spurs to be leading at half-time and winning at full-time. The odds of 11/4 with Boylesports are best on the market and look irresistible.
