The Championship: Good Friday Odds

Relegation threatens three sides playing on Good Friday

Promotion and relegation places are still up for grabs as we reach Easter.

Every game is starting to look significant for one end or other of the Championship as the fixtures on Good Friday demonstrate. Perhaps the biggest clash sees Reading travel to Leeds seeking a ninth consecutive league win to bolster their automatic promotion hopes. The Royals are 13/8 to keep up their spectacular run by claiming another three points at Elland Road. The home side are looking over their shoulders at a host of sides looking to seize the final play-off spot that they are currently occupying. Leeds are 15/8 to triumph.

The East Midlands derby sees two of those sides still pursuing the top six in action. Forest are somehow still in the hunt, lying seventh, despite only recording one win in 11 games. They are 11/8 to improve upon that run here. Leicester’s slim promotion hopes hang by a thread and will all but disappear if they don’t win at 12/5.

At the other end, Scunthorpe hope to continue ‘the great escape’ after vital victories over QPR and fellow strugglers Palace recently. Despite this, The Iron are only 19/5 to claim another scalp, with Coventry on a decent run of their own under caretaker Andy Thorn. The Sky Blues are unbeaten in four and it’s just 4/5 that they make it three wins on the spin at the Ricoh Arena.

The ‘six-pointer’ at the bottom of the Championship sees Doncaster entertain Crystal Palace. The Londoners have a wretched away record, with only one win on their travels all season. They are 23/10 to make that two. Rovers aren’t fairing much better than their opponents, one place and two points higher at kick-off. O’Driscoll’s men haven’t won in eight games and kept one clean sheet in their previous 15 outings. They are 11/8 to claim the three points that would put them virtually safe.
