Saturday Accumulator Tip

Odemwingie could return for Baggies.

Backing Swansea and WBA to bounce back at home to teams in the bottom five, while there could a surprise in the Championship.

QPR and Blackburn have most both shown some form in front of their own fans lately but the mystery of how to collect points on the road remains largely unsolved. This weekend they travel to WBA and Swansea respectively, who in theory have little to play for. However, those two produced such ordinary performances in midweek that their highly regarded managers will demand improvements for the weekend.

The Hoops travel to the Hawthornes without an away victory in five months; in fact they have only collected two points from their last 10 trips. Initially I thought they could carry the momentum of their home form into this clash; but the team news has caused me a re-think. QPR have doubts over strikers Mackie and Zamora while Cisse completes his suspension. In contrast, the Baggies should be revived by returns for Brunt, Ridgewell and potenitally key man Odemwingie.

Blackburn and Swansea both suffered disappointing results in midweek but the difference is that the Welsh side have shown they are capable of much better throughout the season. Brendan Rodgers laid into his players for really the first time, claiming he could have substituted “the whole team”, as he apologised to the fans. It may provide the home dressing room with just the jolt it needed after months of hearing nothing but praise. I expect the Swans to get back on track at the Liberty Stadium against Rovers who have only won at rock-bottom Wolves in 2012.

Finally I’m going to dip down to the Championship to take an unlikely punt on Coventry City. They face a Burnley team at Turf Moor who are are mid-table and realistically not going anywhere despite some reasonable form. The Sky Blues have it all to do after defeat last week at Bristol City left them four points behind the Robins who are directly above them, separated by the dreaded dotted line.

But Coventry have shown some serious spirit in the last month or so. Before that setback, Andy Thorn’s side were on a seven match unbeaten run that included a recent 2-0 victory away to Hull. They know that Bristol face a tough test at St Andrews on Saturday so this is a chance to send the relegation battle right to the wire.

A treble on WBA, Swansea and Coventry to all win comes in at best odds of nearly 18/1 with BetVictor.
