Season Review:
Will wonder how they’ve got themselves in this mess approaching the final day. Were 12/1 to be relegated only two weeks ago but several teams below them finding form while the Blues capitulated changed all that. No wins in five, and a lack of confidence at the worst possible time.

Season Highlight:
Not a difficult one this. Won only the second major trophy in their history by beating Arsenal 2-1 in the Carling Cup Final. Qualification for the Europa League and local bragging rights assured, this Wembley triumph looks like the moment City well and truly took their eye off the ball in the league.

Season Lowlight:
Thumped 5-0 at Anfield and Old Trafford, but at the time neither of those humblings really seemed to matter. The 0-2 home defeat to Fulham just last Sunday was the definite low point; the moment when the harsh reality of City’s predicament was finally felt. Wins over the same weekend for Wolves, Blackpool and Wigan completed a nightmare 48 hours.

Survival Hopes:
Playing worse than any of the other teams fighting for their lives. The St Andrews loss to Fulham was hard to take, but the fact they were played off the park, is even more of a concern. Still outside the bottom three on goal difference, the trip to White Hart Lane may ultimately be an exercise in damage limitation.

Verdict:
May get incredibly lucky. Spurs still want three points to ensure European football next season and the Blues look unlikely to stop them. However, there is every chance that Blackpool and Wigan will leave their games empty-handed as well. In that eventuality, a narrow loss could be enough for Birmingham.
