QPR v Wigan Tip

Two teams who can't be trusted to defend with any real conviction. There could be space aplenty as both sides sides push for victory.

My gut feeling is that QPR will keep their faint survival hopes alive by taking three points on Sunday, but with the home win at best odds of 7/5 (Bet365) I think we can find better value.

The main problem for both these teams right now, as I see it, is that however likely they are to score, they often look more likely to concede.

Wigan have conceded four against the top teams three times since the turn of the year. No real shame in that, but they remain down in the mire because of failing to win many games against the lesser sides even when they have scored a couple themselves. Since January, Martinez’s boys have scored twice against Sunderland, Stoke and Southampton without taking the spoils in any of those clashes. Two recent triumphs at the DW Stadium don’t disguise the greater trend.

Harry Redknapp will know exactly what it feels like to score goals and come away empty-handed. QPR have lost their last two games 3-2, away to Fulham and Villa. There may be a different outcome at Loftus Road but a glut of goals seems pretty likely one way or another.

I’m backing there to be over 4.5 goals in the match for the third QPR game in a row at best odds of 6/1 with Sportingbet.
