Swansea v Everton Tip

We might learn if the Toffees really are serious top four contenders on Sunday.

It’s tempting to simply back two draws in the Premier League on Sunday but to avoid any potential tedium, and more importantly because it represents value, I’ll instead take Everton to win the late kick-off by a one goal margin at best odds of 13/4 with Ladbrokes.

It shouldn’t surprise us that a team that draws as much as the Toffees tends to win by a narrow margin when the three points are collected. There have been recent exceptions at home to Stoke and Fulham, but tougher assignments are generally edged. Of the other seven victories pocketed by Martinez’s men in 2013-14 (across all competitions), six were gained by just a solitary goal.

Furthermore, going back to last season, Swansea are frequently beaten by just the odd goal by the best teams. It’s already happened this term against Arsenal and Spurs; Everton now definitely deserve to be put in that top bracket.

It’s a fixture that the Merseysiders would have drawn a year ago, but now, as genuine top four contenders, I think they will snatch the points. The straight away win is 6/4 (WilliamHill) so let’s improve our price considerably by taking on the margin of victory market.
