Stoke v Southampton Tip

It may not look like the most exciting clash of the weekend but it's eye-catching for one particular bet.

In many ways this feels like the ultimate fixture to target the under 1.5 goals market. Stoke City are my ‘go to’ team in this respect and they face a Southampton side who haven’t partaken in a league game with more than two goals all season.

Six of the Potters’ nine league outings have seen just one goal or less with last weekend’s 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford looking more like an anomaly than a shift in trends. Mark Hughes finds himself saddled with the joint-worst attacking record in the division (just 6 goals scored) but with a top-half quality defence.

The Saints are faring rather better having got the best ‘goals against’ column in the top flight - they have conceded only three times in nine matches. However, they have also scored an average of just 1.11 goals per fixture.

Everything points to a very cagey affair at the Britannia Stadium yet BetVictor still offer a best price of 19/10 on under 1.5 goals in the match.

*The 2/1 with WilliamHill just went while this tip was being written but 19/10 still represents great value.
