Southampton v Tottenham Tip

Spurs are in disarray but the Saints have had a mini dip of their own.

After the seven days Tottenham have had it seems impossible to back the away win in this one at best odds of 2/1 (Betfred). If the team that Tim Sherwood takes charge of, at least on a temporary basis, takes all three points away from the south coast then it will be a bigger surprise than that relatively small price suggests.

Battered by Liverpool, AVB was then sacked before West Ham dumped Spurs out of the League Cup in front of their own stunned fans. Weeks don’t get much worse than that at White Hart Lane.

But before we all go rushing to take the 8/5 (PaddyPower) on offer for the Southampton win on Sunday, we should consider their own slump in form. The Saints are winless in five (D2 L3) and now haven’t kept a clean sheet in seven attempts.

For all their troubles, Tottenham still boast the joint best away record in the top flight (W5 D1 L2) and perhaps we should presume the most likely results here is a stalemate. However, with two currently leaky defences 0-0 looks most unlikely so I’ll favour the score draw at best odds of 18/5 with Boylesports.
