4th Nov 2013 | Premier League

Southampton v Hull Tip 1

We're splitting our stake between two likely scorelines.

It’s November and Southampton are just one point off second place in the Premier League table. That’s why they find themselves at nothing longer than 4/7 (Ladbrokes) to beat Hull on Saturday, but the Tigers are having a fine campaign themselves as they currently sit in tenth spot.

The aspect which separates the two teams is defence. Hull have been pretty solid at the back, but Southampton have been remarkable! Artur Boruc’s unfortunate howler against Stoke last weekend was only the fourth time he has picked the ball out of his net in 10 league matches in 2013-14.

The Saints have won five times in the top flight this season and always by either a 1-0 or 2-0 scoreline. Steve Bruce’s underdogs have lost four times this term; twice it was 2-0, once it was 1-0, and the other time it was 2-1 which I’m prepared to put down to a crazy anomaly!

Given these trends, if we’re going to take Southampton for the points then we really look well advised to split our stake between a 1-0 home win (11/2) and a 2-0 victory for the hosts (6/1) - both best price with Ladbrokes.
