For all their less than ideal preparations, Chelsea are still the team to beat this season.
The champions really enjoyed themselves against Swansea last season, scoring nine times over the two clashes, but it’s hard to imagine anything too one-sided this time around.
Chelsea have seriously laboured through pre-season and with Diego Costa unlikely to feature here, and Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao not yet up to speed, goals look hard to come by.
The good news for Mourinho is that he has reigning Player of the Year Eden Hazard to call upon and a host of midfield attacking talent. He also the strongest defence in the Premier League and a clean sheet at the Bridge always looks likely.
The Portuguese has a 100% opening day record in England and he’ll be happy to continue that record in any fashion it occurs. 1-0 to the Blues could set the tone for the season and is good value at 6/1 with William Hill.
