The ‘First Goalscorer’ market is included in the promotion and perhaps the obvious bet is Olivier Giroud (6/1) given that Arsenal are at home and he is the club’s top scorer. But the Frenchman has only found the net in one of his last 12 outings in all competitions, and may just have gone off the boil slightly.

The next three names on the bookies’ list are all Chelsea strikers who are neither on great form or assured of places in the starting line-up. With that in mind I would instead recommend the Blues’ top scorer, Eden Hazard, a 10/1 shot and a virtually certain starter.

The £32m signing from Lille has found the net eight times in all competitions this season for the Europa League champions and has actually scored a higher proportion (63%) of those goals away from Stamford Bridge.

The Gunners may be jittery early on after conceding six at the Etihad last time out. Paddy are offering the longest available odds on Hazard breaking the deadlock and the Belgian may just take advantage of any Arsenal nerves.
