Premier League Preview

It’s derby weekend on Merseyside and in North London. We bring you the weekend’s best bets.

Saturday, 1 October 2011

Everton v Liverpool, 12:45
Normally a feisty affair, there have been 10 red cards in the last 13 Merseyside derbies. It is 12/5 with William Hill that there is a sending off in the match. Kenny Dalglish’s first stint as Liverpool manager ended with a 4-4 draw against Everton in the 1991 FA Cup. It’s 350/1 (Paddy Power) on history repeating itself.

Aston Villa v Wigan, 15:00
Wigan have lost their last four in all competitions and are 4/6 (Victor Chandler) to suffer another defeat. Charles N’Zogbia faces his old team for the first time and is 17/2 (Bet365) to open the scoring.

Blackburn v Man City, 15:00
It is unusual for Mario Balotelli to look like the model pupil, but he is 11/2 (Bet365) to open the scoring after a turbulent week. Blackburn will think they have caught Mancini’s men at a good time, they are 16/5 (Victor Chandler) to earn a draw.

Man Utd. v Norwich, 15:00
Man Utd have kept just two clean sheets in their last 10 league matches, with Basle showing up their defence frailties in midweek. A Norwich win at 20/1 (Stan James) seems far-fetched but 11/10 (Ladbrokes) on both teams scoring looks much more likely.

Sunderland v West Brom, 15:00
It’s only October but the game already looks like a relegation six pointer. Peter Odemwingie scored in both league meetings last season and is 12/5 (Skybet) to score anytime.

Wolves v Newcastle, 15:00
After a good start Wolves have lost their last three in the league, whilst Newcastle continue to fly high. The Magpies are 23/20 (William Hill) to win in the ‘draw no bet’ market. Guaranteeing at least our money back if they remain unbeaten.

Sunday, 2 October 2011

Bolton v Chelsea, 13:30
Bolton have lost their last eight games against Chelsea at the Reebox, currently the longest losing home run against the same opponent. Stan James go 4/7 on the run continuing. With Bolton struggling for goals, a Chelsea win to nil is 15/8 with Skybet.

Fulham v QPR, 15:00
Fulham have drawn five of their last six, with QPR reaching a stalemate in two of their last three. A share of the spoils seems the obvious result, it is 13/5 with Stan James.

Swansea v Stoke, 15:00
Swansea are unbeaten in their last 11 at the Liberty Stadium in all competitions. Stoke suffered a hangover after their last European adventure, it is 9/5 (Boylesports) for the home win.

Tottenham v Arsenal, 16:00
Emmanuel Adebayor used to love North London derbies, with eight goals in nine games, he is 6/4 (Ladbrokes) to score again. Recent history suggests plenty of goals, with 16 scored in three meetings last season. Over 2.5 goals is 7/10 with Blue Square.
