Newcastle v Man City Tip

One of the leading scorers in the Premier League this season and last is under-rated by the bookies this weekend.

This feels like a tough one to find value in with two teams desperately in need of a result. The Toon Army have lost five of their last six Premier League outings to languish down in 14th spot while City have one win in six in all competitions.

The Magpies are the big outsiders (24/5 StanJames) but that feels justified when you consider that the champions have won the last five meetings between the clubs. City only lost their long unbeaten league run last week so it’s hard to imagine it will be two in a row against a struggling Newcastle.

However, one man in black and white has defied the Geordie slump and continued his excellent prowess in front of goal. Demba Ba has fired 10 goals in 16 PL appearances in 2012-13, including two in the last home match with Wigan.

His tally in English football remains highly impressive with 33 goals in 67 appearances, including his stint at West Ham. Therefore, on any given day he is approximately an evens money shot to score.

We can make a small allowance for strong opposition, but with home advantage, Ba is still worth a punt at best odds of 9/4 (Bet365) in the anytime goalscorer market.
