Manchester United v Fulham Tip: United Win To Nil

United kept 11 clean sheets at Old Trafford last season and never failed to score. Fulham found the net only 12 times on their travels.

After the first round of Premier League matches, Manchester United and Fulham find themselves at opposite ends of the table but I expect normal service to resume at Old Trafford this weekend.

Although United lost their opening match, Everton are formidable opponents, especially at Goodison Park, so I wouldn’t get too hung up on that result.

Last season United were in imperious form at Old Trafford and I expect the trend to continue against Fulham, a perennial mid-table side. In home games, excluding those against City, Chelsea and Arsenal, United won 13 out of a possible 16, conceding only 10 goals in the process.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s teams dominate possession at home and even without their first choice centre-back pairing, they proved capable of shutting out the opposition on 11 occasions last year. In pure odds terms that makes a United win to nil a 4/9 chance.

Fulham may have scored five goals last weekend but only Stoke scored fewer away from home last season, the Cottagers netting a meagre 12 times on their travels.

The value in this market is to look at the long-term trends, with Manchester Untied to win to nil, the value at 11/10 (Paddy Power).
