United Bound For FA Cup Final

Not only were Everton torn to shreds by their arch rivals on Wednesday, but the goals have dried up generally. United are strong defensively and have a top class keeper.

Although the old adage goes that league form goes out the window in the FA Cup, Everton can’t help but be negatively impacted by their crushing defeat in the Merseyside Derby.

That 4-0 defeat on Wednesday night will have left scars which can’t be healed in three days. One impact will surely be that Roberto Martinez will put an emphasis on getting the defence right and with that we should expect a more cautious approach from the Blues.

Unfortunately for Everton fans, I think going gung-ho is there only chance of success, but the fear factor will probably take that chance away.

They have had a reputation for at least scoring goals in 2015-16 but even those have dried up since the quarter-finals; the Toffees have scored just twice in their last six outings. That’s what happens when Lukaku goes off the boil.

For Manchester United the story is very different. Five wins in their last six in all competitions has lifted the mood and four of those have come with clean sheets. Expect another win to nil at Wembley at best odds of 11/5 with Boylesports.

Rashford and Martial are combining well and the return of Rooney provides timely experience. But it’s down the other end where this tie can really be decided. David de Gea is a proven match winner and don’t be surprised if he stars on the big stage.
