Man Utd v Bayern Leverkusen

It would be foolish to dismiss the third best team in Germany these days.

It’s hard to assess exactly how strong Leverkusen are after they missed out on the Champions League last season, but you would be foolish to underestimate any top Bundesliga team these days.

Two German teams contested the final of this competition in May and Leverkusen finished just one point behind Dortmund in their domestic league. Sami Hyypia’s boys also outperformed Schalke by 10 points in the 2012-13 Bundesliga, and they went to Arsenal and won in the group stages last year.

Leverkusen’s form this season also bodes well. They have won four of their first five league games, so far outscoring Bayern Munich and creating an abundance of goalscoring opportunities.

Meanwhile, Manchester Utd haven’t looked any better than mediocre for most of 2013-14 so far and it will be interesting to see David Moyes copes with his lack of Champions League experience.

In continental terms, the Red Devils haven’t even performed that well at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson lately. United have won only three of their last nine European home games and Leverkusen can extend that sequence by claiming a draw at best odds of 14/5 with Skybet.
