Man City v Wigan

Mancini should be celebrating three points by Saturday night.

The Premier League is always unpredictable but surely Man City should beat bottom of the table Wigan with something to spare.

Without being disrespectful to Wigan, when the team sitting third in the league plays at home to the side languishing in last, it always tends to look like a home banker - this is no exception. Man City are starting to look like a team who can score goals when Carlos Tevez isn’t leading the line. Balotelli has scored two in two and Dzeko has three in his last three so Mancini finally has a selection headache, for the right reasons.

Three form strikers makes the first goalscorer market look like a no-go area with just too much uncertainty over who will play, let alone who will break the deadlock. What looks more certain is that City will simply have to much firepower for the Latics and a 3-0 home win looks very backable at 8/1 with Sportingbet.

Mancini’s boys have had some good results of late but he knows that just one league win in five has to be improved upon. Anything less than three points today would be unacceptable and that should surely give City the neccessary urgency to overpower a team fighting for their lives.

Wigan have put in some gallant displays, such as the 1-1 draw at Anfield last month, but wins have proved highly elusive. The controversial 4-0 home defeat to Man Utd last weekend and the resulting slide into bottom spot won’t have improved morale and I don’t think today will see their mood lifted.
