Liverpool v Tottenham Tip

A meeting between two of the top flight's form teams looks like it could go either way. With that in mind, the odds are all wrong.

There’s no doubting that Liverpool have been on inspiring form of late which somewhat explains why the Merseysiders are priced up at best odds of 20/21 with StanJames for this one. However, given that high-flying Tottenham are the visitors to Anfield on Sunday, odds-on has to be too short, and the 10/3 (Bet365) available on the visitors taking the spoils is irresistible.

Spurs are 12 points ahead of the Reds over the course of the season and their recent results are even better than those of the hosts. AVB’s boys are unbeaten in 12 and have won their last four league games. The recent head-to-heads have also gone the Londoners’ way with four victories recorded in the last five showdowns.

So all the statistics suggest Tottenham are unworthy underdogs but one further footballing point validates our tip further - the return of Jermain Defoe. The Lilywhites looked decent in his absence but they went up another performance level against Inter Milan on Thursday when the England striker returned to lead the line. With Gareth Bale currently unstoppable, it would take a brave man to back Liverpool at such flimsy odds.
