Liverpool v Swansea Tip

It just doesn't make sense to have the team that's higher in the table at such rank outsider odds.

Swansea City, the higher ranked team on the league ladder, are far too long at a best price of 6/1 (Ladbrokes) to win at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Liverpool may be the club with all the history, and the reigning champions, but they still only deserve to be marginal favourites here. It was 0-0 when these sides met on Merseyside in 2011-12 and 1-0 to the Swans in the re-match at the Liberty Stadium.

Brendan Rodgers has of course now shifted his allegiance to the Reds, and he looks likely to rest his star men with higher priority competitions in mind. If Liverpool couldn’t score home or away to Swansea last season, why should we expect a big improvement if, as expected, Suarez and Gerrard are left out?

Michael Laudrup may also shuffle his pack but the potential returns of Danny Graham and Nathan Dyer should have a galvanising effect on the Welsh outfit. Swansea very nearly escaped Manchester City with a result at the weekend and if their luck is better here then a famous victory is possible at long odds.
