Liverpool 125/1 For The Title

Can Liverpool win a trophy this season?

Defeat to Fulham was unfortunate, but too many points are being dropped by the Anfield giants.

It’s turned into a nightmare few days for Liverpool as first they watched all their main adversaries win over the weekend, before losing themselves 1-0 at Fulham on Monday night. In truth, defeat was rather harsh on Dalglish’s side who struck the woodwork twice and had Jay Spearing controversially sent off, before Clint Dempsey bagged the late winner.

The Reds are seventh on 23 points, 15 points adrift of pacesetters Man City. 50/1 shots for the Premier League with most bookmakers before the weekend, they are now a best price 125/1 with Bet365. A more realistic aim appears to be a top four spot which would bring a return of Champions League football to Anfield. But even those hopes could be fading with Chelsea five points better in fourth, while Spurs are disappearing over the horizon, now eight points ahead with a game in hand.

Liverpool have drifted to 5/2 (VictorChandler) to finish top four. Newcastle fans may even question why the Merseysiders are 1/6 (Bet365) to finish in the top six. The Magpies have had a bad run, but they are now through their nightmare run of fixtures and remain three points superior to the Reds. Pardew’s side are 9/2 (StanJames) to upset the apple cart and finish top six themselves.

Perhaps ‘King Kenny’ will find solace away from the league. Liverpool are 7/4 (Ladbrokes) for the Carling Cup, having reached the semi-finals, and 8/1 (Coral) for the FA Cup.
