It is not the season to be jolly after a last gasp equaliser knocked Fulham out of the Europa League.

A Europa League campaign that had lasted 14 games ended on Wednesday night after a 93rd minute equaliser sent Fulham crashing out of the competition. Needing a win to qualify and seemingly in control having established a 2-0 lead, the 2010 finalists succumbed to Odense in the last minute of the game.

The disappointing result adds pressure on Martin Jol who is now 25/1 (Stan James) to be the next manager to leave his post. With a reported rift between him and striker Bobby Zamora, these could be testing times for the Dutchman.

Elsewhere in the Europa League, a Stoke second XI lost 3-1 to Besiktas. With qualification already assured many people saw the game as a dead rubber. Not the bookmakers however, who pushed Stoke out to 33/1 (Bet365) from 16s after they finished second in Group E.

Yet to play a game in the competition, the Manchester teams dominate the betting with City 5/1 (Betfred) favourites followed by United at 7/1 with Skybet.
