Goals Galore Matchday 24

We attempt to predict which Premier League matches will see both teams score.

In recent years the ‘both teams to score’ market has become a most popular football bet. For the rest of the season we search for a potential edge over the bookmakers in this area. Using past results we have devised a set of simple betting rules:

Both Teams To Score: ‘Yes’ Votes
• If odds on both teams to score are greater than 5/6
• If team is in the bottom five positions of the league
• If team has one of the five worst defensive records

Both Teams To Score: ‘No’ Votes
• If odds on either team not to score are greater than 6/5
• If Manchester City or Manchester United are involved
• If team has one of the five meanest defensive records

e.g. A match involving two teams in the bottom five, both with one of the five worst defensive records, with odds of 10/11 on both teams to score, would earn a maximum of five ‘yes’ votes and zero ‘no’ votes. The result would be a bet on both teams to score.

For the reminder of the season we will be placing a hypothetical £10 bet when there is a majority of ‘yes’ or ‘no’ votes. If there is an equal number of ‘yes’ and ‘no’ votes we do not place a bet.
