2012-13 may have been another dismal season for Blackburn Rovers as a whole but for club player of the year Jordan Rhodes it was yet another successful campaign which saw his stature within the game grow ever greater.

The £8m signing who scored 40 goals for Huddersfield in 2011-12 grabbed a further 28 for Rovers last term, with 27 of them coming in the Championship. He is unlikely to remain a tempting price to find the net in many games at this level for much longer so we must take advantage while he still is; at best odds of 15/8 (BetVictor) to score anytime against Derby we have a bargain.

Pride Park is already a happy hunting ground for Rhodes who scored in both the league game there last season and then again in the 3-0 victory for Blackburn in the FA Cup. The 23-year-old then struck again versus the Rams at Ewood Park in April.

That goal was part of a fine run to end the Scot’s season as he found the net in six of his last seven club appearances as Rovers finally eased towards safety.
