Championship Odds: QPR Drift After FA Charges

QPR's Championship odds have drifted on news they have been charged by the FA for a breach of player agent rules.

There has been plenty of activity in the Championship betting over the last 24 hours, after the news that QPR have been charged with breaching FA rules regarding third party player ownership. The charges relate to the signing of Argentine midfielder Alejandro Faurlin in 2009.

A similar charge was upheld against Luton Town in June 2008 which resulted in them being docked 10 points.

QPR are currently leading the Championship by seven points and any comparable deduction would leave the league title wide open. The bookmakers have reacted to this news by lengthening QPR’s odds to 3/10, from 2/9. Bet365 and Paddypower have also cut the odds for all of QPR’s nearest title rivals.

The matter will now go to an FA hearing, where QPR will fight the charges according to a statement on the club’s website:

“Having co-operated fully with the FA’s investigation, QPR and Mr Paladini shall be denying all of the charges and requesting a formal FA hearing to determine them.

QPR and Mr Paladini are confident that there has been no deliberate wrongdoing involved.”
