Championship Draw Double

Derby could slip up

It may not be pretty but that won't matter if the results come in at these great long odds.

Something very strange is happening in the Championship this season and I’m not sure many punters and bookies have noticed. Barnsley, so long survivers in this division simply off the back of their home form, have become pretty good on their travels. Unbeaten no less. Of course, now they have cracked that code, the Oakwell form has completely deserted them. It’s the sort of thing that drives supporters crazy.

The Tykes are still down the table because they aren’t winning matches. They have drawn four on the spin, the last three 1-1, and they look like a pretty predictable outfit by Championship standards. They travel to a Derby side who are flying high but have slipped up twice against teams down the wrong end of the league. They lost at Coventry, and Burnley left Pride Park with all the points. I don’t think Barnsley will fare quite that well but another draw looks overpriced at 13/5 with StanJames.

For our second stalemate pick we’ll choose two teams who look like much of a muchness. Watford and Millwall are 19th and 20th in the division respectively and both have seven points from eight games. Watford are yet to win at home and Millwall are winless away; the game at Vicarage Road is unlikely to be a classic.

Not surprisingly both teams are struggling for goals having lost their leading scorers from last season to the Premiership. Danny Graham and Steve Morison have big boots to fill at this level. Frankly 0-0 looks a good bet at 11/1 but they may surprise me and make it a score draw. A draw of any description is 5/2 with StanJames who have the best price on the market for both matches. Consequently the double is great value, even slightly longer than 11/1.
