Championship Double

Poyet's team can re-enter the play-off positions tonight

Back two teams who haven't lost a home game this year.

There are two games in the Championship on Wednesday night and a brace of home wins looks good value at a best price of 3/1 with BetVictor.

West Ham have the chance to return to the summit after Southampton dropped two points at home to Ipswich on Tuesday evening. They face a Watford team who they beat 4-0 at Vicarage Road in the reverse fixture back in August. Perhaps that scoreline illustrates why there are 21 points and 15 positions separating these sides in the table.

The Hammers are due a performance in front of their own fans after drawing the last two at Upton Park. That’s not to say that Allardyce’s side are on poor form; they are unbeaten in five Championships outings and haven’t lost in front of their own fans since 3 December.

The second match sees two teams playing for the right to re-enter the all-important top six spots. Brighton are currently seventh with 54 points, and they host a Cardiff City side one point and one position worse off but with a game-in-hand. That suggests that there is nothing between these sides, but on form, there is a real chasm.

The Seagulls have the longest unbeaten stretch in the Championship of 10 games (W6, D4). Their Welsh visitors, in contrast, have lost four of their last five league outings. They are still looking for their first away victory in any competition in 2012. Cardiff appeared to still be suffering a Carling Cup hangover on Sunday when they lost comfortably 2-0 on their own ground to West Ham.

They will surely get their Wembley disappointment out of their system eventually, but just three days on from another setback, the Amex Stadium looks an unlikely venue to get back on track.
