Championship Accumulator

A long odds special

Four teams to win at home in a division where it's all about confidence.

The fixture card makes me feel bold enough to take on a 4-game accumulator in the Championship this week as we back home advantage all the way. Blackpool, Hull, Ipswich and Bristol City all look likely winners at a best price of 20/1 with VicotrChandler.

Let’s start at the seaside with a Blackpool side who became the first team to take a a point at fortress St Mary’s against Southampton last week. That extended the Tangerines’ run to just one defeat in seven outings, and kept them in play-off contention. Five of Blackpool’s six home league wins have been against sides currently in the bottom eight; that’s where we find visitors Watford residing. The odds (evens) are good because the Hornets have picked up recently, but this will be their toughest test for a while and I expect the better team to triumph.

Next up I’m tipping 5th to beat 19th when Hull entertain Millwall. The Tigers are really in their stride now after three wins on the bounce, and they should add to their six victories at the KC Stadium on Saturday. Again we can be pleasantly surprised to find ourselves offered evens money for this one, just because the Lions have steadied the ship a little lately. The facts remain that Kenny Jackett’s troops have only been victorious once on the road this season. The price is good for backing a promotion candidate to overcome a side battling down the bottom.

Ipswich Town have been a frankly ludicrous outfit this season, slipping from the sublime to the ridiculous and back again. Last week they ended a long losing run by scoring five second half goals at Barnsley to win 3-5. When Paul Jewell’s side is confident they suddenly look like world beaters! With their tails back up, Derby County should be ideal visitors to Portman Road at the weekend. The Rams ended their own poor form with a narrow 2-1 home win over Bristol City last week that will have had a more minimal effect on morale. Nigel Clough’s side haven’t won away since September, and a rejuvenated Ipswich can roll them over with the crowd behind them (6/5 Victor).

The final selection looks, on the face of it, like more of a gamble with Bristol City only ahead of their visitors, Nott’m Forest on goal difference. It’s a bit of a ‘six-pointer’ down the bottom but the Robins are generally the side on the up under new boss Derek McInnes. City were rock bottom when he came to the helm, but a fine run of form saw the west country side climb the table. Ashton Gate looks like a tough place to go again despite Middlesbrough claiming a 1-0 win with an injury time winner last time.

Only three weeks ago, however, mighty Southampton were defeated 2-0, and Burnley were dispatched 3-1 prior to that. Forest should be full of dread having lost four on the bounce without scoring a single goal. Suddenly the 7/5 on another home win looks like a real bargain!

Back the bunch for a potentially huge payday at best odds on the market of 20/1 with VictorChandler.
