Porto Too Strong For Basel
In Switzerland, Basel had 1 shot to Porto's 15. With home advantage thrown in, the favourites should progress with ease here.
Although they drew 1-1 in Switzerland, the second leg of this last 16 clash could be one-sided with Porto looking a class above their opponents and ready to prove it at home.
The shot statistics from that first tie three weeks ago are revealing. Basel, on their own turf, scored from their only attempt, and then tried to hang on grimly while their visitors had 15 efforts on goal. Only one of them went in.
Furthermore, Basel have some recent history of capitulating on their travels at this highest level. In 2011-12 they beat Bayern 1-0 at this stage in front of their own fans before being demolished 7-0 in Germany.
It shouldn’t be that bad this time, but Porto are a class act as they head home as one of the few unbeaten sides left in the competition (W6 D3). The value comes in backing them to win to nil for a sixth time this season in the Champions League - a best price 5/4 shot with a few firms.
