Bayern Still Have A Job On Their Hands

There’s a vague whiff of heroic failure in the air for Moyes’ boys. They might come closer to an upset than many anticipate but the holders should progress.

Manchester United’s upturn in recent performances has coincided with a tailing off in Bayern’s levels which seemingly makes a mockery of the 10/1 available on the away win on Wednesday night.

United gave a good account of themselves at Old Trafford in the first leg before trouncing Newcastle 4-0 away at the weekend. Meanwhile, Bayern have somehow failed to win any of their last three outings and lost their 53-game unbeaten domestic run after slipping up 1-0 at Augsburg last time out.

This ought to ensure that the second leg is much more competitive that many envisaged, but we should make a number of caveats. Rooney is a doubt, Mata was the talisman on Saturday and will be suspended, RVP is still out, Newcastle are pretty dreadful at the moment and Bayern have completely switched off in the Bundesliga after claiming the title in record time.

I would be amazed if the holders didn’t pull it together when it counts, but I think a winning margin of the odd goal may be all that separates the sides over 180 minutes. Bayern are a best price 17/2 to win the second leg 2-1 with BetVictor.
